Margot G Smith B.Ed
is the resident
PGA Teaching Professional
at Glenisla Golf Course
and also teaches at Drumoig
Margot has combined a love of sport and a passion for teaching since her teens,
when after becoming Scottish Junior Table-tennis Champion she was asked to
coach younger players. She also coached hockey having played at Schoolgirl,
U23,
University and Senior levels internationally.
The Former Perth Academy pupil is also a former P.E. teacher having studied
Maths at Edinburgh University and then gaining a Degree in Education from
Dunfermline College of Physical Education.
It was after moving to the USA she took up golf seriously and after 6 months had a handicap of 4. A later move to the Netherlands in 1989, gave the opportunity to undertake a three year course leading to a Diploma and membership of the Dutch PGA. Employed as a teaching professional in Holland, Margot gained wide experience,
with all levels of players; beginners to elite players, juniors through to seniors.
The teaching was very intensive due to the fact that players (even club members)
need a licence before being allowed on the course. After returning to the UK, Margot completed the British PGA examinations and has been teaching golf in Perthshire since then.
She is now enjoying continuing this work with the members, staff and visitors at
Glenisla Golf Course.
Glenisla Golf Course is situated in Alyth, 5 miles from Blairgowrie and offers a
beautiful
18 hole parkland course, 6 hole practice putting green and a 10 bay
covered driving range. Glenisla also has a large friendly clubhouse/restaurant.
